National School Lunch Week October 11th - 14th!
Share Bins Now Available at Kinnikinnick and Stone Creek!
*Share bins will be unavailable until further notice.*
Oftentimes, the students have food on their trays that they do not want to eat. At the same time, we have students who are still hungry when they've finished their lunch. Instead of having the students throw away items that they do not want, we are allowing them to put these closed items into a bin that is available for any student to take from!
Not only will this help with waste, it will also allow those who are still hungry to receive more food, AND whatever is leftover at the end of lunch periods will be kept by teachers and nurses to provide snacks to any child who needs one throughout the day!
As with all programs, there are rules that we must adhere too.
1) All items that are put on the share table MUST be closed and from the school kitchen ONLY.
This is because of food allergy concerns, food safety concerns, and calorie/nutrition concerns.
2) No food that is brought from home can be placed on the share table.
I think that this will be a wonderful new addition to our Food Service program!
