How will food service look like in the Fall 2020 with current safety guidelines in place?

The administration and staff of Kinnikinnick School District have been working tirelessly to make sure that our students are able to enjoy school meals safely during the 2020/21 school year.  Things will look differently but we are confident that we will be able to provide meals that are healthy, delicious and served safely!

A few notes:
- All meals will be prepackaged for easy "grab-and-go" type meal service.

- Students will be lead through the lunch line, socially distanced, grab their meal, scan their card and head back to their classrooms to eat.

- All packaging will be disposable.

- Due to restrictions, what is listed on the menu is what will be included in their packaged meal.

- Condiments and milk will be included in each package.

- The menu that I have created has been created with allergy students in mind.  We have no peanut butter items on any of our menus.  If there is an item on the menu that your child is allergic too, the staff will prepare your child their own package, without that item, and keep their package safely away from the others.

- We have changed the way that we are handling lunch cards.  Students will now be provided a lanyard to wear their school ID on so that we can scan them as they come through the lunch line - this limits the amount of touching lunch cards by multiple people.

- All items that will be in the packaged meals will be prepared safely by our staff members who will be wearing face masks and gloves.  Hand washing is always an important part of our day but this will be stressed even more than usual.

- If your family chooses elearning, you will still be able to receive school meals!  These meals will look different than what will be served in school and will resemble the meals that have been handed out this summer. More information on that will be emailed out to elearning families.

- Our staff will be required to fill out a health questionnaire every day to ensure that they are healthy and able to be in the building.

- All delivery drivers who enter the building will be required to wear face masks as well.

Finally, since the items on our menu will be different than what our students are used to - I will be creating the meals and taking pictures so our students can see what their meal will look like!  This will be shared here, on the website and will also be emailed to all teachers and parents as soon as I finalize it.

Please know that if you ever have questions or concerns about how our meals are prepared, what we are preparing, or even have suggestions as to what you'd like to see added - please do not hesitate to reach out!

Thank you all.
